Stories in Blue began as a series of verbatim theatre interviews with more than 50 survivors of sex trafficking in Western Michigan, which is one of the top 20 spots in the U.S. for human trafficking. We chose seven of the interviews as representative and treated them as monologues performed on sites throughout the city of Grand Rapids for ArtPrize 2016, and witnessed in performance by more than 7,000 viewers. The goal was to raise awareness about human trafficking in an effort to end this scourge of modern day slavery in our community.
